2014 Lamborghini Veneno Roadster

The Lamborghini Veneno reset our understanding of what an ultra-exclusive, ultra-expensive supercar should be. With an astronomical price of $4.6 million, we thought we’d never see a car with a price that high again. Well thanks to the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster, with one less roof and $700,000 more on the base price, we’d be wrong.

These images of the Veneno Roadster hit the web earlier this week. While only four examples of the coupe version were built, there has been no confirmation on the number of roadsters that will be constructed. It is expected that it will run the same 6.5-liter V12 engine, sent through a sequential direct shift gearbox to an advanced all wheel drive system.

 

The same price does come with the same speed– at 2.9 seconds the Veneno Roadster’s 0-60 time is just a fraction of a second slower than the hardtop’s 2.8-second 0-60 run. But when you are sub-three seconds anyways, does it really matter?
